• 8/21/2008: Spirits of New Orleans
  

  
  Criss visits New Orleans, where he puts bystanders into a trance; has a hitchhiker disappear and reappear in his car; makes a girl's ring vanish in a restaurant and reappear in a salt shaker at another table; and amazes a spectator in a voodoo store with a word-guessing trick.
  



• 8/20/2008: Escape Over Bourbon Street
  

  
  On New Orleans' famous Bourbon Street, Criss tries to escape from a straitjacket and shackles while suspended upside down above a crowd; and performs tricks while visiting historic buildings and a casino.
  



• 8/13/2008: Cremation
  

  
  Criss is put on a wooden slab and then engulfed in flames, walks through a steel door and is impaled by a forklift.
  



• 8/13/2008: Barrell Drop
  

  
  Criss is handcuffed, placed in a drum that's sealed inside a wooden box and hoisted high in the air, and must escape before the box is dropped.
  



• 8/6/2008: Nail Gun
  

  
  Criss attempts to catch a nail fired from a nail gun using his bare hands; "cuts" through a fan's arm with a jigsaw; and levitates a football and makes football players appear from thin air while at a park. Anthony Michael Hall makes an appearance.
  



• 7/30/2008: Building Implosion Escape
  

  
  Criss attempts to escape from a building in Florida before it is imploded. Shackled inside, he must escape to the roof and into a waiting helicopter before the detonation.
  



• 7/23/2008: Walk on Lake
  

  
  In the fourth-season opener, Criss walks on water, strolling out onto Lake Mead and going more than 200 feet in front of boaters and onlookers from the banks.

Criss takes Sully from Godsmack's watch, and smashes it to bits with a hammer; he then produces that same watch, undamaged, to the relieved Sully. More mayhem in the arcade when Criss draws a picture that starts talking to startled kids. Criss convinces Carrot Top that a trick has gone wrong and mistakenly chops off his finger. Then he shows an adoring Luxor employee his superhuman strength as he levitates a heavy manhole cover hovering below one hand. The episode culminates as Criss remembers his uncle who drowned as his car slid off the road into a watery ditch. In a tribute to his uncle, Criss is tied and locked in the trunk of a car as it is lowered into a lake. Criss must escape or face the same doom as his uncle.

Criss Angel Teams Up With Uri Geller on NBC's "Phenomenon" Premiering October 24

An intriguing and mystifying meeting of the minds takes place on live television when famed mentalist Uri Geller and world-renowned mystifier Criss Angel ("Criss Angel Mindfreak") conduct an intensive search for the next great mentalist on "Phenomenon."

The exhilarating and mystifying live show is based on a successful Israeli version judged and monitored by Geller, which achieved a historical record-breaking viewing audience. The series showcases 10 carefully selected mentalists who will compete live against one another each week by demonstrating a wide spectrum of mystifying talents on a panel of celebrity guests who experience the spellbinding illusions along with the studio audience.

Together, Geller and Angel will assess the contestant's talents each week and offer their unfiltered opinions. Ultimately, the fate of the winner is in the hands of the viewers at home, who will vote to determine which competing mentalist will receive the grand prize of $250,000 and become the next great mentalist.

Last year, in downtown Las Vegas, in front of hundreds of onlookers, Criss surrounded a girl with temporary walls; when the walls came down, she was gone. This year, Criss will attempt the same unbelievable vanish, but this time without walls or barriers of any kind. Then Criss reveals to his mother that he's going to attempt to vanish before a raging Mexican bull charges him.

Criss turns a young girl's toy Barbie into a real women, with the doll growing out of her dollhouse right in front of the eyes of excited children. Criss then physically transforms himself back into a child again. He also teaches a trick to some Make-a-Wish kids, and then Criss-mas comes early as Criss, dressed as Santa Claus, makes a truck full of toys appear out of nowhere to the delight of disadvantaged kids.

He then astounds Flavor Flav when he predicts the time of his famous clock necklace and freaks out Jamie Kennedy as he magically pulls thoughts out of Jamie's mind. Criss will also attempt the unprecedented feat of teleporting a group of people from one elevator to another in one single continuous camera shot.

"The neon lights of Las Vegas shined even brighter on Saturday evening as Lindsay Lohan made her way into town. The Hollywood starlet came into town to surprise one of her best friends celebrating her birthday, and headed over to PURE Nightclub. Hanging out with DJ Hollywood, Lohan gave shout outs to Lauren Conrad, Brody Jenner, Whitney Port and Frankie Delgado before inviting the group to join her party. Later on, Lohan's party received another surprise as Mindfreak Criss Angel arrived and joined in on the fun. Also making PURE their party spot on Saturday night was Larry Johnson, Sacramento Kings head coach Reggie Theus and Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher. Earlier in the afternoon, The Hills stars enjoyed the lavish luxury of the Venus Pool Club."

According to Las Vegas Focus, illusionist Criss Angel is to appear for an autograph signing on Saturday, July 28 at 4pm - 7pm. at the official MINDFREAK store located in the Luxor Galleria.

Criss Angel Does Not Live Here

I have received several e-mails from people who think I might have some special access to Criss Angel and even one who thought I was Criss Angel!

I am a Criss Angel fan and I sometimes blog about him ( I even met him once ) but that's the extent of my relationship with Criss Angel, unfortunately!

I know Criss has a young following demographically, and judging by the tone, grammar, and vocabulary of some of these e-mails, I think most of them are from kids in grade school.

Given that kind of audience, I hope Criss will do more to set a good example for the kids out there who apparently really idolize him. They certainly do not have too many good role models in this brave new world. Criss is to these kids what Superman was to me when I was a wee lad --- many, many years ago. Some of us kids put on a cape and unfortunately a few of us attempted to fly off tall buildings. As Criss would say, do not attempt to duplicate his illusions at home! ( Or you might wind up in the next episode of the "Darwin Awards" ).

Criss Angel's Mindfreak Third Season In Las Vegas

Season 3

Criss Angel Season 3 premiered on A&E Tuesday June 5th 2007 at 10PM EST with 28 new episodes.

I love the slogan or catch phrase: "Are You Ready?"

Criss' sincere, unshakable motivation is inspiring: that what he does, he does for himself and all the challenges he accepts are from himself, while also giving homage to his late Father who taught him that all things are possible. And now his Mother also warns him to not attempt such life threatening feats. And his first big spectacle of the new season involve the mysterious (or mystical) PYRAMID and THE LIGHT!! Can't beat that for multiple metaphors! Brilliant! Billions of candle lights of brilliance.

The first episode's climatic presentation of Criss levitating over and into the Luxor Pyramid light, using his "mind body and soul", and being "alone" with only a camera & mike recording his thoughts - without his crew - I wonder how he can possibly top this in his future episodes?

And there is always the lingering question: is he a superman or a great magician? I know for a fact that Criss is human and made of flesh & blood like all the rest of us. BUT -- I still am awestruck & full of wonder --- I wonder, like everybody else, how the heck does he do it?

'Sahara headliner Amazing Johnathan said doctors have informed him he faces a heart transplant if the latest treatments fail.

The comic magician said he has been taking blood thinners and will have a defibrillator placed in his heart next week.

"The heart is damaged and not going to get any better," he told Vegas Confidential.

He said a virus has been destroying his heart since childhood. "And they said I'll probably need a transplant."

He was shocked, he said, to learn his doctors are convinced he's already had a heart attack.

"If I lose the weight and keep my blood thin, I should be all right," he said. "They are seeing what they can do without doing the transplant."

He indicated he had no plans to end his show, although he had suggested recently he was considering retirement.'

Today I attended the press conference for Criss Angel and Cirque du Soleil @ the Luxor. The show will open in summer of 2008. Criss Angel is releasing his first book, "Criss Angel MINDFREAK: Secret Revelations" in April 2007 (Harper Collins).Criss Angel has been named Magician of The Year five years in a row. He's currently taping the 70th episode of his tv show Criss Angel MINDFREAK at the Luxor Hotel in Las Veags.

There are Cirque du Soleil productions in 130 cities word wide. There will be six Cirque du Soleil shows in MGM properties in Las Vegas when this show begins. Mystere is at T.I, O is in Bellagio, Zumanity is in New York, New York, KA is in the MGM Grand, The Beatles LOVE is in the MIRAGE.

I was invited by Jessica Berlin, Assistant PR manager of Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas.

Criss Angel's mother was in attendance as well as at least one of Criss' brothers.

This video contains 2 minutes of photographs in a slide show style presentation. There is a nine and one-half minute speech from Criss Angel with his description of his career's development leading to this 'pinnacle' of creating a show with Cirque du Soleil.

Top Ten Magic Acts In Las Vegas - Repost

We are not talking about the kind of magic in Las Vegas that makes your money disappear here.

I was wondering how a ranking of magic acts would turn out, since I have not attended a magic show in Vegas for a long time. Since Siegfried and Roy closed down their show, I wonder who actually is number one now?

There is no doubt in my mind: the answer is Criss Angel.

To round out this list, I have included people who label themselves as mentalists and illusionists if they do anything that seems to defy the laws of physics or probability. Many magician acts effectively use the comedic element to their advantage, and some like "The Amazing Johnathan" can arguably be called comedians who effectively use magic. There may be some on this list who are no longer performing in Vegas, like the talented Melinda (pictured above).

Well, here goes my prejudicial list, always subject to change. Sorry if I missed your favorites.
