Staycation In Henderson: Brunch, Fun, and Dessert

A few days ago my wife was restless, having worked hard without much of a break, and needing a well deserved rest. She wanted to drive to California to Carlsbad to be near the ocean again, and I told her that she was crazy to make me drive during the long holiday weekend.

So, we decided to splurge and eat brunch at the "Best Mexican Restaurant" ( their claim, not mine ), Lindo Michoacan, just down the street in Henderson. It was a bit pricey, but muy bueno; we both settled on huevos rancheros with green chili salsa. Delicioso ! Highly recommended.

Afterwards, we drove over to the M Resort, and took advantage of some small free casino play we had accumulated from awhile back, probably the last major holiday, since we are not big gamers and we really don't gamble that often. We both managed to play pennies, nickels, dimes and some quarter slots for over five hours on their free play !

As we drove back home we decided to visit a new bakery cafe in the neighborhood, about a half mile from our house. Highly recommended! It's called Layers Bakery Cafe, where we purchased some chocolate croissants and a loaf of oat bread ( to go with all that leftover Thanksgiving turkey ! ).

So, we did not travel very far, and yet we had a wonderful time in Henderson, and my wife enjoyed a brief respite from her grueling job :) I will be sneaking back to that wonderful bakery down the street soon :)
