Dance Comes to Downtown Las Vegas

Sign: Southern Nevada Center For The Arts

On a recent rainy Sunday afternoon, a large group of kids were watching their dance teacher, Sonya Randall, demonstrate a routine set to some poppin’ hip-hop music. Instead of being home zoned out in front of the TV or computer at home, these kids, ages 7 to 17, were intent on learning a new dance routine.

The dance studio, which is based out of the Southern Nevada Center for the Arts, serves a population “3 years to 103 years-old” according to teacher Randall. She has a diverse arts background, having been trained in the Southern California area, and brings her knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to the dance studio. She has experience as a singer/dancer/choreographer/stuntwoman and has even performed in videos such as Michael Jackson’s “Moonwalker.”

“Being an entertainer myself it is important to me to be able to offer great training in the arts and we provide that with some of the best teachers in Vegas” says Randall. “We are centrally located in the heart of Downtown. We want a place to be able to learn and/or express ourselves and we are offering that outlet through performing as well as visual arts.”

A wide variety of classes are taught at the dance studio: ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, acting, musical theatre, Tae Kwon Do, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and more. They cost $10.00 per class; two children in a family will get a discount, and there are discounts for taking multiple classes.
