The Comedy Festival In Las Vegas November Features Andy Kaufman Award

Don't miss this annual four-day event, from November 14-17 at Caesars, featuring a "who's who" of comedy in dozens of performances and special events at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Tickets for The Comedy Festival are now available through Ticketmaster

The Andy Kaufman Award

The Andy Kaufman Award is now a part of this year's The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. That's a change of venue from its first three years when the contest and award took place as part of the New York Comedy Festival.

From the Andy Kaufman Award site:

"Are you the next Andy? Here's your chance to find out as The Comedy Festival and Ziddio present The Andy Kaufman Award, an online search for eight comedic artists who best embody Andy Kaufman’s spirit, originality, humor and courage in their own unique performances. Eight finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges that includes The Comedy Festival, Shapiro/West & The Andy Kaufman Estate and all finalists will perform in The Andy Kaufman Award show during The Comedy Festival at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas on November 16 and will be eligible for a $5,000 prize. Who's next? Could be you!"

More details about the Andy Kaufman Award and entry rules are available at The Andy Kaufman Award Site.

Andy Kaufman was born in New York on January 17, 1949 and was raised on Long Island.Even as a small child, Andy was always interested in being a comedian, but a different sort of comedian. He was the type of person who wanted to play tricks on people, as shown in the movie, “Man on the Moon,” when he wanted to trick people with having them think that their televisions weren’t working. Andy was quite the trickster.
