Imitation Of Life In Las Vegas

It is the nature of Las Vegas to imitate what it can't originate.

"Imitation is the sincerest of flattery." -- Charles Caleb Colton

(As all great bloggers start off with a quote, here am I, tyring to imitate one!)

Buildings & Landmarks

Within a short distance on the strip there is an Egyptian pyramid, a New York skyline, an Eiffel Tower, a street scene from Venice - it is so "beam me over, Scotty" that one can quickly get very disoriented.

Wax Impressions

At Madame Tussauds, we can find an imitation of a frozen, static moment in the lives of our favorite celebrities.

Imitators & Impersonators

A little further down the strip, at the Riviera, the entertainment of imitation seems to have reached new heights with such shows as "Barbara And Frank: The Concert That Never Was" (Frank Sinatra & Barbara Streisand), "America's Tribute To Neil Diamond" with Jay White, and "La Cage" starring Frank Morino as female impersonator par excellent.

At the Imperial Palace, who can forget to include "Legends In Concert" or the "Rat Pack" at the Greek Isles.

And don't forget to search out all those Elvis impersonators, especially the "Fat Elvis" lounge show at the Barbary Coast!

Sounds like ...

Speaking of musical acts, Vegas seems to have an abundance of tribute bands that appear and re-appear with some frequency, whose whole shtick is to imitate some famous band - for example, be on the lookout for "Yellow Brick Road" (Elton John) , Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin) and "Yesterday" (The Beatles), amongst others.

If I've missed your favorite, feel free to comment below. ( I'm only imitating a great blogger. )

Ooops! Almost forgot all those comedic impersonators, but I'll have to save that as a subject of a future blog.
