Art Bell Briefly Returns To Coast To Coast AM

Listening to Art Bell filling in for George Noorey on Coast To Coast AM made me remember that I have been a loyal fan of Art's since he had his politically oriented show back in the late eighties on KDWN, Las Vegas. Art is retired now in Pahrump, but it sure was nice to hear his voice again last Friday night.

Art has come out of his announced "retirements" a couple of times before, and there always seems to be a rumor going around, like the conspiracy theories Art has popularized, that he will be returning to Coast To Coast on a regular basis once again. We can only hope.

Although I don't swallow whole every topic presented on Coast To Coast AM, I am indebted to Art for keeping my mind open to the possibilities beyond the mundane world. Art's show focuses on alternative topics that force my mind to consider other possibilities --- with awe and wonder --- emotional commodities that many of us have depleted since childhood. The only way I know of to break the hypnotic hold of day to day existence is to "mind-travel" --- stretching one's imagination --- or, to modify the hackneyed phrase, "look outside the box". As they used to say in the introduction to Science Fiction Theatre, that old TV show from the fifties, "Today's science fiction is tomorrow's science fact" - a proposition proven many times on Art's show over the two decades I have listened to him. For example, physicists are just beginning to catch up with the ideas that we can influence objects at a distance and that there may such a thing as "the field" of mass consciousness.

Art Bell's Most Famous Broadcast

In my opinion ... the most famous one was when a pilot flew over Area 51 and contacted Art just before he disappeared! His last transmission was that interceptor jet fighters were firing on him:

Art Bell's Second Most Famous Broadcast

The following, from the Metatech site, is either a clever hoax or the real deal, you decide!

Transcript: Art Bell gets a Frantic Call from an Ex-worker of Area 51,
about earth changes:

The following tape was sent to me by a webfriend named Teri. It is a short segment from a radio show that Art Bell did, I understand, in 1997.

The tape is only a few minutes long. Listen to this tape. It may be one of the most important few minutes you have ever spent.

On the night this tape was made, Art had asked workers of Area 51 to phone in and spill the beans about Area 51. He may have got more than he bargained for.

When you listen to this tape, listen to your intuition. Listen to you gut reaction. Feel this guy's emotion. If you get chicken-skin (goose-bumps), I believe that is your higher self telling you that what you hear is the truth.

When you hear silence on the tape - keep listening. There is more after a fairly long break. The silence is because within 2.08 minutes of speaking, the caller was knocked off the phone line. There was a massive shut down.

I am told that on the very next program Art said they found out what the problem was: Their satellite had LOST EARTH LOCK. That means, it was KNOCKED OUT OF POSITION!!! What would have the immense power and capability to knock one a satellite out of position so quickly???

I have been told by one person that the same guy was on the Art Bell show some time later and he said that he was only joking. All of what he was saying was acting to kind-of pull Art's coat tails. He has been on other times since and done different but similar jokes. He did say that he was surprised that Art was knocked off of the air. He had no explanation for that.

Teri said: "I only heard him call in one other time after that and he said something to the effect that he was "better" now". If he did in fact say that, does that sound like a practical joker to you?

There are other possible explanations for why someone later phoned in claiming it was a joke:

1) How do we know for sure it was the same guy who rang back?

2) How do we know they didn't grab him, hypnotise him and then get him to phone in? This would be VERY easy for them to do.

Here is a transcript of the talk:

"Hello Art? Art? Hi....I don't have a whole lot of time..um...I was a former employee of Area 51...I was let go on a medical discharge about a week ago...and...and...(starts to cry)...I kinda been running across the country...um...um....man....I don't know WHERE to start......they'll triangulate on this position really, really soon... (starting to break up and get more frantic--Art tells him to give us something quick>)...OK...um...um....What we're thinking of as Aliens ...they're EXTRA-DIMENSIONAL BEINGS...that an earlier precursor of the SPACE PROGRAM MADE CONTACT WITH...uh...they are NOT what they claim to be...uh...they have INFILTRATED a lot of aspects of the MILITARY ESTABLISHMENT particularly Area 51...uh...the DISASTERS that are coming...the GOVERNMENT knows about them....and there's a lot of SAFE AREAS in this WORLD THAT THEY COULD BEGIN MOVING THE POPULATION TO...N O W - Art.....but they are NOT doing anything about it... THEY WANT THE MAJOR POPULATION CENTERS - WIPED OUT SO THAT THE FEW THAT ARE LEFT WILL BE MORE EASILY CONTROLLABLE....(breaking up more, starting to cry...)...I started getting...." Silence - Art went off the air at that point.

The Mysterious Mr. Robert Lazar

I've been associated with the Aerospace and Defense field for most of my thirty year career (1970 to 2000), and I must admit that the most enigmatic person I have ever heard about was Bob Lazar. He claimed to have had a job in the Nevada desert (the notorious Area 51) working on re-verse engineering of alien space craft (captured UFOs). He became a specialist in the physics and back engineering of alien propulsion systems. A lot of his story is somewhat credible and some is very hard to swallow. George Knapp, the local Las Vegas investigative reporter, started his career as a investigator of the extra-ordinary and paranormal, interviewing people like Bob Lazar. Art Bell, who currently broadcasts weekend nights on the "Coast To Coast AM" syndicated radio show from his home in Pahrump, has had several most memorable interviews with Bob over the years.

I have yet to make up my mind about Bob.

In a way, I would like to believe that everything Bob has told us is true. If the government military scientists know so much about anti-gravity engines, then why aren't they sharing this information with some military or even commercial ventures, which would most likely solve the energy crises and our dependence on Mideast oil for all time?

Did Bob make any money with his story? I really think he suffered in his career more than he ever benefited; which makes me think that he might really have been telling the truth all along. He is a shy and retiring nerdy guy (like me), and I don't even think he wanted or welcomed the media exposure he got, with his 15 minutes of fame. He quietly runs a company in Albuquerque, and is rarely heard from now.

I don't think the real truth will be revealed for a long time. If anybody knows the real truth about Bob, please let me know.

Fashion Show Mall Alien Escape Vehicle?

If you are a sci-fi movie fan, then you might remember how in the MIB (Men In Black ) movie the giant cockroach villain alien attempted to escape earth. In the MIB movie I think the escape craft was in Flushing Meadows, New York at the 1964 World's Fair pavilion:

Looking around Vegas, the structure most likely to be an alien escape vehicle is in the front of the Fashion Show mall. Best to spend all those leftover space credits at the mall before returning to one's home planet. Genuine homo sapiens clothing and baubles and artifacts make great gifts for the kids back on Alpha Centaurus.

Honorable mention is the top of the Stratosphere tower:

If the Landmark Hotel & Casino were still around ( and I have a theory that the top of the tower took off during the implosion), it would definitely have been a close third. I invite others to add their favorite alien spacecraft thinly disguised as an earth-bound edifice. Especially the great bloggers and friends at Fantasy and Sci-Fi Lovin' Blog

Today's Science Fiction Is Tomorrow's Big TV

This may be a little off topic for this blog ( it's my way of welcoming readers from the Fantasy & Sci-Fi Lovin' Blog ), but I was wondering what new innovation introduced in this year's International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas would make this year's show most memorable. According to some commentaries, it won't be Bill Gate's keynote address.

Well, Sharp Electronics's introduction of the largest LCD TV will probably rank high on the list of items that captured our imaginations this year. No price has been mentioned for Sharp Electronics' new 108" LCD TV. That's nine feet, for those who don't wish to do the math!

The trend toward larger and larger screens reminded me of the movie version of Ray Bradbury's Sci-Fi Fantasy classic: The Illustrated Man. One of the stories ( warning, plot spoiler - don't read the following if you don't want to know the plot ) called "Veldt" has this plot (thanks to Wikipedia) from Ray's original book version:

"The Veldt" — Two parents use an artificial "nursery" to keep their children happy. The children use the high-tech simulation nursery to create the predatorial environment of an African veldt. When the parents threaten to take it away, the children lock their parents inside where they are killed by the "harmless" machine-generated lions of the nursery.

In the movie version of the book, the plot is slightly changed, at least in my failing memory ( I will have to rent the DVD to verify this ). The "Veldt" started out as a wall sized 2 dimensional TV screen, which picks up your mind's images and projects them. The kids are told by their parents that they are spending too much time in the TV room and in this antiseptic future world, there is no outlet for the children's energies. They keep sneaking back to the TV room without their parent's permission and their combined energies causes the TV screen to become a 3-D portal to an African savanna complete with a family of lions, apparently projecting the children's pent up agressions and resentment towards the parents. The children escape but the parents aren't so lucky.

Now, I know all you Sci-Fi buffs will be asking what cool aid I was drinking back then, but that's the way I remember the movie. You know, I probably dreamed some plot modifications and that changed my memory of the original film.

In any case it's fun to ponder a wall size TV that picks up your thoughts? Look for its introduction at ICES 2047.

Las Vegas Invaded By Aliens?

If you ever see a UFO over Las Vegas you have to ask yourself:

1. Have I been partying just a little too much?

2. Did somebody just throw a Frisbee over my head?

3. Is it one of ours (best bet) or reverse engineered at Area 51 (good bet) or is this a terrifying real-life remake of the Independence Day movie (a really bad bet - better seek cover!)

4. If you are still not sure, hop in your car and head back on I-15 and hope that whatever happens here stays only in Vegas (baby)!

5. Did it look like this? :
